is embodied through my love of my favorite childhood (and adult) toy, the Lego brick, represented here by the self-proclaimed brick-artist, Nathan Sawaya.  His Lego art brings forth an aesthetic that encourages unobstructed imaginative play while also using the Lego brick as a means to encourage modernist principles of form, line, shape, repetition, color and more.  His artwork brings together the need for play in education in our postmodern art world while also retaining the elements of the techniques of the modernist agenda.
